The Department of Anesthesia provides specialized anesthesia services with a focus on the unique needs of women throughout their reproductive journey. Job Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia services for a wide range of gynecological, obstetric, and other women’s health-related surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal anesthesia management.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments, including risk evaluations and counseling for women undergoing surgery or labor-related procedures.
  • Administer anesthesia during surgeries and procedures, monitoring patients’ vital signs and responding to any changes in their condition.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, gynecologists, and other medical specialists to provide integrated care tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and optimize outcomes.
  • Provide anesthesia services during labor and delivery, including epidurals, spinal blocks, and general anesthesia as necessary.
  • Contribute to the teaching and mentoring of residents, medical students, and junior anesthesia staff within the department.
  • Engage in clinical research focused on advancing anesthesia practices and improving patient outcomes in women's healthcare.
  • Uphold and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the delivery of best practices in women’s anesthesia care.
  • Stay updated on the latest advances in anesthesia techniques, technologies, and practices for women’s health.

 

Requirements

  • A medical degree with specialization in anesthesia, recognized by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).
  • Subspecialty training or experience in women’s anesthesia, with proficiency in anesthetic management for gynecological, obstetric, and other women’s health surgeries.
  • Board certification in Anesthesia or equivalent, eligible for registration as a Specialist Anesthetist with the Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) in Singapore.
  • Extensive clinical experience in women’s anesthesia, particularly in obstetric anesthesia, including labor and delivery, caesarean sections, and high-risk obstetrics.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring, with the ability to educate junior staff and medical trainees in women’s anesthesia.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, with a focus on staying current with advancements in women’s anesthesia practices and technologies.

  • Experienced in providing anesthesia care for a broad spectrum of women’s health procedures, including gynecological surgeries and obstetric anesthesia.
